[Ubuntu][Linux] Can not execute the lately JAVA version that you've just installed.

We need to modify the setting, the command as below:

sudo update-alternatives --config java
sudo update-alternatives --config javac
(Modify both of them)

And you will see the selection list:

And then, you can update the version that you wanted.

Taiwan student's English study notes - take up meanings

Take up has 4 different meanings : 

Occupancy 

This bed takes up most of the space of my room.

Begin to do something

She took up playing basketball at the age of ten.

Continue doing something

Take up the task that you left off.


Accept advice

I took up hers suggestion to spend time at the coffee shop which has special decoration at last Saturday afternoon.

Occupancy  - 指東西佔據了某地方

This bed takes up most of the space of my room.  這張床占了我房間大部分的空間

Begin to do something - 開始做某件事

She took up playing basketball at the age of ten. 她十歲開始打籃球

Continue doing something - 繼續完成沒做完的事情

Take up the task that you left off. 去完成你留下的工作

Accept advice - 接受建議

Taiwan student's English notes - make an effort, mope around, back on your feet.

Just note them for reminding.

make an effort (ph.) try hard to do or finish something.

Example sentence : 
Thanks for you've made an effort. We appreciate for your help.

mope around (ph.) to move from one place to another without any particular purpose or energy, because you are unhappy or disappointed. (refer to Cambridge dictionary)

Example sentence : 
You can't mope around, you should forget the awful things, cheers.

back on your feet (ph.) to be healthy again after period of illness. (refer to Cambridge dictionary)

Example sentence : 
You'll back on your feet, just rest enough.

Also can use on pay money back.(refer to novel "me before you")
You can pay me back after you're back on your feet.
